ICTC National Working Group Recruitment for Canada Readiness Tool PDF Print E-mail

The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is currently recruiting members for a National Working Group for its Canada Readiness Tool currently in development.  Members of this working group will participate in meetings with their peers to review three tools part of a new toolkit to help Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) identify their skills which may need some development in order to ease integration into the Canadian ICT sector. The first in-person meeting will be held in Vancouver on Oct. 23.

Six regional committees will be formed, three consisting of IEPs currently residing in Canada working in the ICT sector in Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa; and three of ICT managers employing IEPs.  Each group will consist of 6 to 8 members.

RSVP by Tuesday October 14, 2008.  

Only limited amount of space.

The three tools that each regional committee will review are: 

        Workplace Skills Tool – Will help IEPs identify the skills that they require to perform proficiently in an occupation.

        Workplace Communication Tool – Assists in providing IEPs with an awareness of the language abilities required on the job in work-related tasks

        Workplace Culture Tool – Provides an overview of the characteristics of Canadian workplace culture and how to adapt to cultural differences.  

Participants must meet the following criteria:

·         be a landed immigrant, refugee, visitor or on a work visa, who has been in Canada for at least 6 months.

·         have the equivalent of a post-secondary diploma or degree in an ICT-related discipline.

·         be employed within the last 6 months or actively seeking employment

·         have a good working ability in spoken English (LINC 5, CLB level 7)

 It would be an asset if the Internationally Educated Professional is from one of the following countries; however, a diverse group of participants will be recruited:

·         China

·         India

·         Philippines
