The Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) currently is currently doing research into what kinds of language skills are needed to work in the sector.  The Centre for Canadian Benchmarks (CCLB) has been retained by ICTC to undertake this work.  CCLB provides leadership and expertise into the use of established national standards to describe the language proficiency in either English or French. Language is one of the factors that contribute to being successful in an occupation, especially for those who speak English or French as a second language. The project will involve research into two of the ICT Competency Profiles clusters:  Software Products and Management. The results of this research will inform the ICT Competency Profiles, as well as provide a clearer indication of the communication skills required for workers in the sector.  This initiative is funded by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada. As part of this research, ICTC and CCLB are looking for volunteers in the Software Cluster (Programmers, analysts, web designers, etc.). The Software survey will be open until early June.   A second survey will be sent to Managers in June.   Please distribute this Call for Volunteers within your organization and networks and invite your colleagues to participate.  We encourage you to complete all four parts of the survey. You may start completing part of the survey and carry on at a later date, providing it is done within the given timeframe. You can access the survey using the following links: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ICTC-Survey_SoftwareProducts_LISTENING_Skill1  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ICTC-Survey_SoftwareProducts_SPEAKING_Skill2 http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ICTC-Survey_SoftwareProducts_READING_Skill3 http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ICTC_Survey_SoftwareProducts_WRITING_Skill4
